With Claude Giroux's recent success and the Montreal Canadiens' struggles, the Ottawa Senators star is primed to have another strong performance with more than 2.5 shots on goal.

Claude Giroux has been on a roll lately, registering four goals and four assists in his last four games. The Ottawa Senators forward has also notched 15 multi-point games this season, the most by a player in his first season with the team since Clarke MacArthur had the same number in 2013-14.

As the All-Star break approaches, Giroux is likely to be a key factor in the Senators' attempt to win a season-high fourth consecutive game. The Senators have outscored their opponents 13-3 during a three-game winning streak since ending a 2-6-0 rut.

Giroux has also been putting up plenty of shots on goal. This season, he's averaging 2.41 shots per game, and that number increases to 2.65 shots when playing away from home. Over the last 20 contests, he has averaged 2.3 shots per game, with more than 2.5 shots in nine of those matches. His shot production has been climbing over the past 10 and 5 games, with averages of 2.8 and 2.8, respectively, and more than 2.5 shots on goal in five and two games, respectively.

At the other end of the ice, the Montreal Canadiens have been struggling to generate offense. The team has managed just five goals during its current 0-2-1 slide, and the club is dealing with various injuries to nine forwards. Of note, young star Cole Caufield has opted to be shut down to undergo shoulder surgery with his team essentially out of playoff contention. This season, Caufield has scored a team-leading 26 goals. The Canadiens have also been shut out four times this season and managed just four shots in the third period against the Senators on Saturday.

Given the current situation, it's unlikely the Canadiens will be able to slow down Claude Giroux's shot-taking. With the Canadiens' struggles continuing and Giroux's recent success, I believe picking the over for his shots on goal is a good bet.
