Pick 12: 3 total sets (2.20)
Hurkacz and Tommy Paul are about to face each other in what should be a pretty tight match as both tennists have almost equal chances to go through. They both had a first round bye and a commanding win in the second round. I can see why Hurkacz is the favorite here but Tommy Paul has been impressive in the past months hence his climb in rankings. The courts in Indian Wells are very slow which in my opinion suit Paul’s game better than Hurkacz’s, so I can see him creating some trouble for the first ranked Pole. Hurkacz has won all their h2h but only one of them was an official match and it was in an indoor hard court which is much faster, and even that was dragged by Tommy to 5-7 6-7. I can definitely see both of these players taking a set today and sending this match to a decisive set hence I’m going with 3 total sets for my playoff pick.
