In an exciting NFL showdown between Washington and Chicago, the spotlight is on Commanders' quarterback Sam Howell, who's lining up to smash more than 12.5 rushing yards.

The NFL season is heating up, and this week, all eyes are on the capital as the Washington Commanders prepare to take on the Chicago Bears. Amidst all the action, one player stands out: Sam Howell, the Commanders' quarterback. Howell has been making waves in his de-facto rookie season, showing promise as a passer, but it’s his potential on the ground that has caught my attention. The line is set at -122 for Howell to rush for over 12.5 yards, and I believe he will he get there with ease.

Despite his relative inexperience in the league, Howell has been making strides. He's been a steady and solid presence in the pocket, showing his ability to toss the pigskin for big yardage. But, let's not forget his legs. Howell has the ability to move, and against a Bears defense that ranks fourth-last against the pass, he may just decide to pack up and take off.

Chicago's defense has already given up 10 touchdowns through the air — only the Broncos have allowed more. This kind of defensive vulnerability could open up opportunities for Howell to exploit on the ground. It doesn't take a genius to realize that if the Bears are focused on stopping Howell's arm, they may be caught off guard by his legs.

Now, let's talk about the Bears' track record against rushing quarterbacks. They've already surrendered the 6th-most rushing yards to quarterbacks this year, including a touchdown. This is where Howell could shine. His college career at North Carolina demonstrated his ability to take off when the pocket collapsed — a skill that could come in handy against the Bears.

Meanwhile, in Washington, offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is pulling all the right strings. The Commanders have already put up 31 points against the Eagles, so the offense is firing on all cylinders. Howell's adaptability gives him another weapon in his arsenal, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a few designed runs for the young QB.

Now, I'm not saying this is a lock. The NFL is unpredictable, and anything can happen on any given Sunday (or Monday, or Thursday). But based on the stats, the match-up, and Howell's skill set, I'm confident he has what it takes to eclipse 12.5 rushing yards.
