The Kings had a tough time defending Brunson last time around as he scored 42 points. They tried double teaming him most of the game and he still put up these numbers with only four free throw attempts. He does a good job of using screens using his speed to get by Sabonis when he tries to trap, as has many good driving guards have this season against the Kings. He can stop on a dime on pullups or change directions in a blink of an eye, all while being a good three level scorer, making him almost impossible to defend. The Kings don’t have a defender that can truly stay in front of him either. Their best bet is a mixture of Ellis and Fox defending him. Brunson was 9 of 12 on drives. The Kings have a problem with guys that can really use their speed off the pick & roll. Since Randle has been OUT, he’s been taking 20+ field goal attempts in 20 of 26 games. In games with 20+ field goal attempts, he’s over this line in 31 of 45 games this season. 30% of his points have come in the paint (non-restricted area) and the Kings are allowing the 9th most attempts there in the past 10 games and 2nd most attempts on the season. Looking at the Kings, De’Aaron Fox looks to have a tough matchup against Miles McBride who fits the profile to try to lock him down as there is no real size advantage here and McBride is very quick and reactive, navigating screens and contesting shots. McBride did not play much the last time these two teams played but when they did matchup, he forced Fox to shoot 0 for 3. Since the start of march, Fox has attempted 22 or less field goal attempts in 13 of 16 games. In games with 30+ minutes and 22 or less field goal attempts, he’s gone under this prop in 22 of 38 games. In games of 30+ minutes without Huerter this season, he’s gone under this line in 7 of 10 games. Since March with the same criteria without Huerter, he’s gone under in 6 of 8 games. One of those two games that went over in March was a game with over 22 attempts. The Knicks are allowing the 7th fewest pullup attempts in the past 10 games. Fox shot 5 of 19 when these two teams last played.
