Bam Adebayo Under 3.5 Ast (+118 FD)

The Celtics came with a great game plan in Game 1 defensively as they allowed Adebayo to go one on one but take away Herro in the pick & roll through Holiday and White as they are among the best screen navigators in the league, while also having an extra help defender take away his drives and floaters, turning his attempts into long jumpers, which still allows the Celtics to still play drop coverage. Essentially to make things simple, they wanted Herro to be a facilitator and Adebayo to be a scorer. Adebayo had 5 potential assists in Game 1, and letting Adebayo be a scorer means they don’t have to send traps or double, which the Celtics don’t really like to do as they have so many good on ball defenders. Typically, when Butler is OUT and Herro is in, Adebayo is the facilitator usually, but playoffs allow teams to tailor their defense to a team’s strengths and weaknesses and this is what we are currently seeing. Look for Boston to have a similar game plan tonight.

Josh Giddey Under 4.5 Ast (-122 DK)

Giddey only had two potential assists and 21 passes. On top of that Giddey only had 30 touches. Chet, Shai, and Jalen all dominated touches and passes over Giddey. He had the same usage rate as Kenrich Williams at 17%. The offense will be funneled through the main three players as they’ll use Shai or Jalen with Chet in pick and roll situations for the ball handlers to pullup or Chet to pick and pop. What hurts Giddey even more here is the 11-man rotation last game. I don’t expect and 11-man rotations again but 9 or 10 seems more plausible as they still want shooters on the court. When he gets 15-25 minutes on the court (played 20 in Game 1), he’s gone under this prop in 27 of 39 games.
