Some people scoffed when the Los Angeles Lakers signed veteran NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony in the off-season. He's just another aging player, they said. He's going to get injured and waste valuable cash!

Sure, he's not young but Carmelo Anthony has proven to be a God-send for the Lakers so far. He has remained competitive and instrumental in some of their wins. Most surprisingly, he has been absolutely killing it from the three-point line.

Carmelo has typically been a pretty good three-point shooter. The average for his career is 35%. But something has changed now that he's playing for LA and his effectiveness from deep has increased - a lot.

Carmelo Anthony now has a three-point percentage of 50.18%. That's a wild increase from just last year when he was landing a still-impressive 38.41%.

5 for 10. 3 for 5. 5 for 8. 6 for 8. Those are the numbers he's recorded from three for the last few games. He's very methodical with this shot selection too (as long as you ignore the game against OKC when he went 1 for 8). These buckets are coming at the most important times, once again proving why Anthony has always been considered a clutch player.

Unlike some other players on the Lakers (cough RussellWestbrookcough) it is very obvious that Carmelo Anthony knows why he was signed by the Lakers and he is well aware of what he's supposed to do for the team. So far, he's delivering - and then some. Will it last? LA sure hopes so.

There are a lot of moving pieces with the Lakers and so much that still needs to be figured out, changed, and improved. For now, Carmelo Anthony doesn't need to change a damn thing.
