Hey y'all,
Now that American Thanksgiving is behind us, the NHL is back in action today with 14 games, including ten day games. With such a packed slate, I'm just going to take a quick run through the games and give the player props I have my eye on in these matchups. Likely won't play every single one of these, but they are the props that I'm liking today. Let's get started.
Rangers vs Flyers
Fox Assist (-120): Great matchup for the Boys in Blue vs a Flyers squad ranked 26th in goals against per 60. Fox has helpers in 7 of his last 9 games and has hit in 4 straight road games.
Blackhawks vs Wild
Kaprizov 4+ Shots (-135): Over in 6 of his last 8, including 3 straight home games. Great matchup vs a Chicago team ranked 27th in shots allowed per 60. He had 5 when these teams met earlier in the month. As a Wild fan I'll say that they often play sluggish in matinees, so consider yourself warned.
Canucks vs Sabres
DeBrusk 3+ Shots (+138): Decent spot here vs a Buffalo team ranked 20th in shots allowed per 60. Over in 4 of his last 5 games overall and 4 straight road games. He has hit in 3 of 4 games since J.T. Miller left the lineup.
Garland Assist (+145): While he has moved back down to the 3rd line with the return of Boeser, Garland is still getting PP1 minutes and has assists in 5 of his last 6, including 3 of 4 without Miller in the lineup. 70% hit rate on the road this season and an alright target in a middle of the road Sabres defense (16th in goals against).
Devils vs Red Wings
Meier 4+ Shots (+142): Playing the alt line here as Timo has just been cranking the puck lately. Has at least 6 shot attempts in 7 straight games and has 4+ shots on goal in 5 of his last 6, including 4 straight on the road. While he only had 2 when these teams played last month, Detroit is ranked 28th in shots allowed per 60.
Islanders vs Capitals
Carlson 3+ Shots (+122): While the Islanders are middle of the road in terms of shots allowed, they give up a lot of shots to defensemen. Carlson has hit in 4 of his last 5 on home ice and is averaging 8 shot attempts per game since Ovechkin got injured.
Panthers vs Hurricanes
Reinhart Goal (+170): On paper this looks like a bad spot no doubt. However, what the underlying numbers don't reflect is that since Andersen and Kochetkov went down to injury, Carolina has been averaging 4 goals against per game. Enter Sam Reinhart with goals in 11 of his last 14 games, including 5 straight on the road. I'll take a hot goal scorer vs a team on its 3rd-string goalie any day of the week.
Necas Assist (-120) or 2+ Points (+230): Great spot for one of the breakout stars of the year vs a Florida defense that is 27th in goals against per 60 so far this season. Necas has assists in 82% of games this season and 9 straight games on home ice. If you're looking for value, he has multiple points in each of his last 3 games and 6 of his last 8 home games - including 3 games with 3+ points.
Flames vs Blue Jackets
Marchenko 3+ Shots (-114): Hit in 7 of his last 8 games, including 3 straight on home ice. Calgary is 23rd in shots allowed per 60 and Columbus has been playing quite well at home this season.
Zary Point (+105): After starting the season like a house on fire before going radio silent, Zary seems to have found his stride again as he has points in 4 straight games. While Columbus has been surprisingly competitive this season, they still rank 29th in goals against per 60 - so we'd expect some Calgary scoring today.
Lightning vs Predators
Hagel 3+ Shots (+112): While Hagel is hitting this mark at a sub-40% rate on home ice, on the road this season he has hit in 8 of 10 games. I'm willing to trust that trend vs a Nashville squad ranked 26th in shots allowed per 60.
Kucherov 4+ Shots (+106): Again, good matchup for Tampa shots. Kucherov has hit in 8 of his last 11 and is 7 of 10 on the road this season.
Point Goal (+170): Goals in 6 of his last 7 games overall and 7 of 9 on the road this season. Decent matchup with the Preds ranked 23rd in goals against.
Kings vs Ducks
Kopitar Assist (-125): Ducks have actually been pretty stingy this season but LA is clearly the better team and Kopitar has a history of success vs Anaheim. Assists in 7 of his last 8 games, including 4 straight on the road.
Kraken vs Sharks
Montour 3+ shots (-132): Over in 77% of games so far this season, including all but 1 road game. Has 13 shots in his last 3 matchups with San Jose (when he played for Florida). The Sharks are given up the most shots to defensemen this season.
Avalanche vs Stars
Duchene Point (-155): The former 2009 1st round draft pick has points in 15 of 20 games against his former team since the start of the 21-22 season. He has points in 6 of his last 8, including 4 multi-point affairs, and has hit in 7 of 10 on home ice this season. Colorado continues to struggle in net and is ranked 30th in goals against per 60.
Benn Point (+100): Only looking at this because they are on home ice. He has a 27% hit rate on the road but an 80% hit rate at home so far this season.
Oilers vs Hockey Club
Draisaitl 2+ Points (+115) or Goal (+130): Leon has multiple points in 6 of his last 8 games and 5 of his last 6 on the road. Decent matchup vs a Utah squad that is 20th in goals against. If you want a different look he has goals in 3 straight and 5 of his last 6 road games.
That's all for now. Best of luck whatever you play today. If you're interested in seeing more of my stuff, check out my X - @fnpropsguy.
