Hello and welcome to the first edition of what I am calling Down the Stream! The purpose of this series is to help those streaming the less important fantasy positions (Defense, Kicker, Tight End etc.) find the perfect match ups/pickups on a week to week basis. Today, we’ll be looking at what Defenses (50% owned or less) you should be targeting this week based on recent success and this week's match up .

  • Green Bay D/ST vs Chicago

  • (Past Month: 18 Points Allowed Per Game, 1 Turnover Per Game, 2 Sacks Per Game, 39% Owned)

  • The Pack has had a solid month defensively especially when you consider that they played Kansas City, LA, Minnesota, and Seattle who have traditionally had high powered offenses. However, this pick is not based on the skill of Green Bay but more so on how awful Chicago has been offensively. After an atrocious outing from Andy Dalton, Justin Fields is likely returning to the starting lineup. Fields has been less than ideal at QB and has thrown an interception in four of his past five starts and has only amassed more than 200 yards passing just twice this season. For those worried about a potential big game from RB David Montgomery, this is a Packers defense that is top ten in defending the rush. All in all this is a perfect stream option and one that is owned in only 39% of leagues according to Yahoo.

* Note chart does not include Week 11 start in which he was injured

  • Kansas City Chiefs

  •  (Past Month: 9.75  Points Allowed Per Game, 2.5 Turnovers Per Game, 2.25 Sacks Per Game, 50% Owned)

  • In a shocking turn of events, it’s the defense carrying Patrick Mahomes as of late and not the other way around. After allowing an NFL worst 6.3 yards per play at mid season, the Chiefs defense has come alive spurring a five game win streak. They have got 2+ turnovers in the past 5 games and collected a season high 5 sacks against Dallas. Fantasy wise, it puts them at 4th overall in average points scored this month. In spite of their new found dominance, they are only owned in half of all fantasy leagues. This week, they match up against a sputtering Vegas offense that has only scored more than twenty once in the past five weeks. Pick them up while you still can.

  • Seattle Seahawks

  • (Past Month: 20 Points Allowed Per Game, 1.25 Turnovers Per Game, 1.25 Sacks Per Game, 19% Owned)

  • Two words: Davis Mills. After an injury to the wrist of starting QB Tyrod Taylor, Mills will be starting for the 7th time this season. In those seven games, the Texans have successfully put up double digits twice; yikes. In terms of fantasy, opposing defenses average 10.7 fantasy points per game against Mills led offenses. Not to mention, current Texans RB1 David Johnson is currently questionable to even suit up with a thigh injury. While yes this isn’t the Legion of Boom from years past, this is a piece of cake matchup and one you should look to exploit.
