Todays MLB article brings us to my favorite spot on the slate. I get to continue to fade my Washington Nationals, and play a dependable veteran we can count on. Slate starts at 1:30 PM EST today, make sure to get them in early!

DJ LeMahieu 1+ Hit/Braves ML -107 FD

While today is a new day, we’re gonna continue doing something we’ve loved doing all season, Fading the Nationals. Since Braves F5 ML isn't available, I'll be playing the full game (although I think they’re both good spots). The Braves are starting rookie Spencer Strider, who is already being priced like an up-and-coming ace in both the betting and DFS markets. Strider looked dominant against Washington earlier this season, going 5.2 innings, recording 11 strikeouts while only allowing 1 hit. Washington hasn't named a starter yet, but will likely be deciding between pitching a tired bullpen game (which is the early indication) or activating one of Joan Adon, Josh Rogers, or Evan Lee.

Two of those options are lefties who struggle to right handed batters out, not a good recipe vs the Braves, and the other is Joan Adon who has been the worst starting pitcher in baseball this season. Despite using both Andres Machado and Erasmo Ramirez multiple times this series, I think the Nationals choose to punish their long relievers one last time before the break. The Nationals are coming into this game losing 9 straight, 15 of there last 16 games, and 9 straight vs the Braves. This team is coming in playing pathetic baseball, and with the Juan Soto news looming large, I think the Braves complete the series sweep today.

Now let's talk about our other leg, DJ LeMahieu. In his career vs Chris Sale, DJ currently holds a .667 batting average, going 6-9 with 3 home runs and a double. While he’s been a very consistent hitter in baseball over these couple years, seeing those power numbers definitely jumps off the page. Sale’s primary pitches are going to be his 4seam fastball and slider, which DJ holds an xBA of .333/.307 this season. Additionally DJ should be instore for a good matchup against this Red Sox bullpen, which has got to be extremely tired. With Chris Sale on a pitch limit, and Nick Pivetta and Nathan Eovaldi only making it 4 innings in these last two games, the bullpen has got to be looking forward to the all-star break. LeMahieu is coming in with a .307 average vs LHP, a .321 average in the month of July, and 1+ hit in 8/L11 game.
