Luka Doncic is putting up MVP type numbers again across the board. Leading the Mavericks with 33 Points, 8.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game. Not only are his overlying stats popping off the page, the expected numbers too are not what we normally see from a point guard. 16.7 potential assists per game to go along with over 14 potential rebounds are the highest combined potential R+A numbers in the NBA. Luka also has an absurd 37.6% usage rate on the season as well, top in the NBA. Luka is doing all of this with the Mavericks being the slowest team in terms of possessions per game. In this matchup versus the #2 pace team in the NBA, we are going to see Luka and the Mavericks get a boost of almost 7 possessions in this one.
When I take an R+A prop I want the ability for either option to pop off, or reach the number on its own. With Luka, we have seen these types of games regularly. This month alone, we have seen 3 double doubles and 2 Triple doubles, plus 4 other games where he has reached at least 9 in one category. The Warriors used to be a scary matchup, but this year we have seen a stark decline in their defensive numbers. 4th most points allowed in the NBA so far this season, plus, bottom 10 in rebounds and assists allowed on the year is not what we are used to seeing by this Warriors team. Lastly, Luka has owned the Warriors. In games where we have seen Luka reach at least 30 minutes of playing time, he is averaging 7.2 assists per game and 8.2 rebounds over the past two seasons.
